Bluefield University is once again sending teams of students out on mission during its annual mission trips. Teams will travel once again to Spain, during spring break, and Ecuador, following graduation in May.
“There are just so many opportunities for God to use you overseas, and it’s really, I think, important to take advantage of those opportunities,” said student Michael Vichiola, who was part of last year’s Ecuador team and will serve with the Spain team this year.
The Spain team will travel March 3-11 to work alongside Baptist missionaries planting churches with a focus on discipleship in the university district of metropolitan Madrid. While on-site, the team will engage university students through English conversation clubs, distribution of Bibles, and social events providing an opportunity to share testimonies and life experiences.
Following the spring commencement ceremony, the Ecuador team will travel May 8-16 to work with For His Children, a Christian children’s home. Since 1990, this group has provided care to children in at-risk situations, such as abandonment or neglect, in conjunction with local authorities and social services from all provinces in Ecuador. They also create pathways for adoption with loving families. The mission team will lead a Vacation Bible School at this location while ministering to caregivers there.
“Being a missionary is about spreading the Gospel and loving like Christ,” said Ecuador team member Taylor Stiltner, who is eager to show love to the at-risk children “no matter where they come from.”
