Bluefield, Va. – Students in Bluefield University’s Sport Marketing and Administration of Sport & Recreation classes are hosting a women’s flag football tournament on Saturday, April 26, at Mitchell Stadium. The event is part of a collaborative class project designed to give students hands-on experience planning, organizing, leading, and evaluating a significant community sports event.
This student-led, student-centered tournament welcomes females ages 14 to 18 and 18 and older, regardless of skill level. The format will be 6-on-6, with a maximum roster size of eight players per team. Participants may register as a team or individually be placed on a team.
Event Schedule – Saturday, April 26
8:00 – 9:00 AM – Registration and Warm-Ups
9:00 – 10:00 AM – Instructions, Rules, and Drills
10:00 AM – Games Begin
3:00 PM – Awards Ceremony (may move to Sunday depending on the number of teams)
What’s Provided
Flags, belts, footballs, and referees.
Performances from the BU Band and Cheerleaders.
Concessions, cornhole, merchandise sales, team pictures, and cash prizes.
Player Requirements
Must bring a mouthguard.
Wear pants or shorts without pockets.
Sign a waiver before participation (participants under 18 must have a parent or guardian sign).
Admission
Free for both players and spectators.
