Accreditation assures students, faculty, and our partners that our programs and degrees meet the high standards of a recognized agency.
Bluefield University is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC) to award associate, baccalaureate, and master’s degrees. Degree-granting institutions also may offer credentials such as certificates and diplomas at approved degree levels. Specialized Accreditations
The Bluefield University School of Education and Social Sciences offers academic programs leading to licensure in the Commonwealth of Virginia for prospective elementary, special education, and secondary teachers, school counselors, and PK-12 administrators and superintendents. All of our licensure programs meet appropriate approval and accrediting body standards of the Virginia Department of Education and the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP). In addition, our graduate programs in School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling are accredited by the Council for the Accreditation of Counseling and Related Education Programs (CACREP).
The School of Nursing’s RN-to-BSN program is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE) for a period of 10 years, from April 2018 until December 2028. The master’s degree in nursing program, and post-graduate APRN certificate programs at Bluefield University are accredited by CCNE. CCNE is recognized by the Department of Education and is a specialized professional accrediting agency.
