Bluefield University is excited to announce another enrollment record this fall. This year’s total number of students is 1158 and it surpasses the Fall 2017 enrollment of 997 students, making it the seventh time in the past eight years Bluefield University reaches record-breaking enrollment numbers.
The strong growth came from advances in the traditional and graduate segments. This fall’s 278 new traditional student count surpassed last fall’s record number of 251. The increase marks the fifth year in a row total traditional numbers have climbed.
“Our on-campus enrollment continues to move in a positive direction, and for that, I am truly thankful,” said BU President Dr. David Olive. “We have a terrific team of student recruiters who love Bluefield University and love what they do. They, together with the great collaborative assistance of our faculty, coaches, and administrative staff, are creating a dynamic learning and living environment that draws students who want to make a difference in the world.”
Bluefield University’s new master’s program in biomedical sciences (MABS) launched like a rocket. Offered in partnership with the Edward Via University of Osteopathic Medicine (VCOM) in Blacksburg, VA, the 35-hour credit program helps Bluefield University students initiate their career in the health sciences field. In addition to MABS, a master’s program in business administration (MBA) began in January. With these additions to BU’s existing portfolio on the master’s level, graduate enrollment numbers grew from 49 students last fall to 203 graduate students for Fall 2018.
BU Vice President for Enrollment Management and Student Development Michael White commented, “Many people worked together to reach these record numbers, and enrollment is truly a team sport. Many years of effort gave us the right foundation to achieve these results. People are choosing Bluefield University because of the programs we offer and the life-changing experiences they can have.”
