Bluefield University’s Goodness and Light Alumni Award will be presented as a part of Homecoming and Family Weekend on Friday, November 1, at 4 P.M. in Easley Library.
This award was created to recognize graduates in the School of Education and Social Sciences who are “doing great things in our schools and classrooms” and also to continue the legacy of Dr. Donna Hardy Watson.
Dr. Watson stepped down from her position as dean of the School of Education and Social Sciences in the spring of 2017. This award is given annually to honor a graduate of the School of Education and Social Sciences who embodies her mantra of spreading goodness and light in the field of education.
“It’s indeed a privilege to be able to recognize the legacy of Dr. Watson by honoring a graduate from our School of Education and Social Sciences,” said Shellie Brown, Director of Teacher Education. “This award gives us the opportunity to recognize members of our outstanding alumni base with an honor that best expresses our appreciation for their service to our schools and communities,” she added.
Bluefield University alumni and friends are invited to attend to celebrate Dr. Watson’s contributions to Bluefield University and the presentation of the 3rd annual Goodness and Light Alumni Award.
