Bluefield, VA – In an effort to meet the national call of delivering a quality education that is affordable and accessible to those who live locally, Bluefield University offers the Pathways tuition program that substantially reduces its tuition by nearly 50 percent for qualifying students.
In fall 2014, Bluefield University initiated Pathways to provide half-price tuition to local prospective students who (a) qualify for the federal Pell grant, (b) live at home, and (c) attend a school district within a 45-mile radius of Bluefield University. Students who participate in Pathways are not eligible to receive institutional financial aid; however, they are able to obtain outside scholarships, grants, and loans to assist with the costs associated with pursuing their education.
“The Pathways tuition program is an excellent resource to earn a high-quality private Christian education at an extremely affordable price,” said Matthew Hamilton, Bluefield University director of traditional admissions. “Not only do students get half-price tuition, but their federal and state aid stacks on top of it.”
The Pathways tuition program is open to students of the following school districts: Bland, Buchanan, Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Grayson, Montgomery, Pulaski, Russell, Smyth, Tazewell, Washington and Wythe in Virginia; and McDowell, Mercer, Monroe, Raleigh, Summers, and Wyoming in West Virginia.
All students—new, transfer, and returning students—may choose to apply for acceptance in Pathways if they meet the eligibility requirements.
