Bluefield University student Sahara Clare Brewster has been accepted to attend the Los Angeles Film Studies Center for the Fall 2019 semester. Brewster applied to attend the Los Angeles Film Studies Center for one semester through the BestSemester program.
According to their website, the BestSemester program is a program through the Council of Christian Colleges & Universities that provides students with culturally-immersive learning experiences that contribute to their intellectual and spiritual growth and equip them to follow Christ in all areas of life.
“I applied to kind of branch out and get out of my comfort zone. I’ve always had a big interest in film, so I wanted to see if film was a right fit for me,” said Brewster.
While attending the Los Angeles Film Studies Center (LAFSC), Brewster will attend courses in film such as Narrative Storytelling, Faith & Artistic Development in Film, and a Hollywood production workshop. Brewster will also be provided with an internship opportunity there in Los Angeles, California.
At Bluefield University, Brewster is a double major in Communication and Graphic Communication and plans to graduate Dec. 2020. She is vice president of the Student Activities Leadership Team (SALT) and writes for Bluefield University’s student newspaper “The Rampage.”
“My favorite thing about Bluefield University is the environment. I feel like everything is more personal here versus other places. Plus, this is my hometown,” said Brewster who was born in raised in Bluefield.
