Bio

Dr. Buterakos came to Bluefield College in 2002. Prior to joining the faculty at BC, he held the position of Instructor of Mathematics at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University from 1997-2002. Dr. Buterakos has always embraced an interdisciplinary approach to the Sciences, which eventually led him to complete a Doctorate in Mathematics in 2003. He also possesses teaching credentials in physics and the physical sciences. Dr. Buterakos serves as the Appalachian Athletic Conference Eligibility Chair, in which capacity he is responsible for convening the Conference Eligibility Committee to address violations and eligibility appeals, as well as eligibility training for member institutions. He teaches or has taught courses in College Algebra, Mathematics of Finance, Statistics, Precalculus, Differential, Integral, Multivariable and Vector Calculus, Differential Equations, Abstract Algebra, Elementary Real Analysis, Numerical Analysis, General Physics, and Physical/Earth Science.
