Graduate Commencement – Family & Friends

It’s time for the big day!

Commencement is a big day for our graduates at Bluefield University and family and friends are central to the experience. Visitors are encouraged to review the information below to help plan their visit to Bluefield University for the commencement ceremony. We can’t wait to see you!

Time
A commencement ceremony for students completing a(n) undergraduate or graduate program at Bluefield University is scheduled for Friday, November 20, 2026 at 5:00 p.m.

Location
The commencement ceremony will be held on the Bluefield University campus at 3000 College Avenue, Bluefield, Virginia in Harman Chapel (#11 on the Campus Map).

Parking
Graduates, faculty, staff, and volunteers enter campus by the Dome Gymnasium (Stadium Drive). Family and guests enter campus through the main entrance on College Avenue (#17, 16, 15 on Campus Map). The parking lot directly behind Shott Hall (#14 on Campus Map) will be reserved for graduates, faculty, staff, and volunteers.

Parking for those with limited mobility will be available near VanDyke Circle between Rish Hall (#10 on the Campus Map) and Harman Chapel (#11 on the Campus Map).

Video
The 2026 Graduate Commencement will be recorded and shared through the Bluefield University YouTube channel.

Photos
A campus photographer will be taking pictures throughout the ceremony. Family and friends are welcome to take photos after the ceremony on or near the stage area as well as outside around campus.

Information for Graduates
The deadline to apply to participate in the ceremony on Friday, November 20, 2026 has passed.

Future Commencements
A commencement ceremony for students completing a graduate program is also scheduled for Friday, April 30, 2027 at 6:00 p.m.

To participate in a spring 2027 ceremony, students must submit a graduation application by Sunday, November 1, 2026. Applications are available on MyBU on the Student > Electronic Forms page.

For students completing an undergraduate program, commencement ceremonies are also scheduled for Saturday, May 1, 2027 at 10:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. Please visit the Undergraduate Commencement page for more information.
