Josh Grubb, a 2007 business administration graduate who joined the Bluefield University staff in 2014, has accepted the position of Public Relations and Development Manager at Wytheville Community University in Wytheville, Virginia.
During his tenure at Bluefield University, Grubb first served as the registrar for the University and later took on the added responsibilities of coordinator of BU Central. During that time, he spearheaded the University’s efforts to convert its transcript sharing and receiving methods to an electronic process, while improving a number of other registrar procedures. In 2015, he became Bluefield University’s director of alumni relations and the annual fund. Through his leadership, annual giving increased by approximately 20 percent and alumni giving increased by 6.7 percent. In July 2018, Grubb became the Director of Development and Alumni Affairs. In this role, he oversaw fundraising strategies for the Office of Institutional Advancement, worked with alumni relations, and cultivated relationships to support capital projects. In addition, Josh worked with students to establish S.T.A.T. (Students Today, Alumni Tomorrow). He is a true servant leader who exuded faith and professionalism every day.
“Leaving Bluefield University was a bittersweet decision to make. Bluefield University will always have a special place in my heart, and I am grateful for the experiences I had as a student and as a staff member. I can say that my time on staff was just as transformational as my time as a student. It was an honor and a privilege to work alongside the talented advancement team,” said Grubb.
While his tenure with Bluefield University has come to an end, Grubb plans to be actively involved with his alma mater in other ways. “I look forward to remaining active in my support of the Bluefield University Alumni Association. I am thankful that God led me to serve Bluefield University and that He has now opened at door for me at a University closer to my home and my family. I’m joining a wonderful team at Wytheville Community University and I’m grateful for the opportunity to continue my work in advancement,” said Grubb.
Grubb would like to acknowledge the people that helped him along the way with his career.
“Ruth Blankenship has been a wonderful mentor and friend, and she has supported me in every step of my path. I have connected with so many wonderful alumni and BU supporters over the past several years. Their passion for Bluefield University, its students, and its mission is truly remarkable. The Bluefield University advancement team is in great hands with Joshua Cline joining the all-star team that includes Nicole, Vanessa, Lindsey, and Hal,” said Grubb.
“I cannot express how proud I am of Josh. I have been blessed to see him grow from a student to an amazing individual and leader. Josh provided strategic leadership that generated significant growth with our annual and alumni giving while at Bluefield University,” said Ruth Blankenship, vice president of finance and administration.
