Bluefield University students, faculty, staff, and the surrounding community have a unique opportunity to hear from distinguished service member, Major General Luis R. Visot. The event will take place in Bluefield University’s Harman Chapel on Wednesday, November 7 at 10:00 a.m. A true servant-leader, Major General Visot has won multiple awards and held multiple leadership positions in the United States Army.
Major General Visot, born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, holds a Bachelor of Arts from Marquette University, a Master’s in Education from the University of Georgia, and a Master’s in Strategic Studies from the United States Army War University. He is a Doctoral Candidate in the Human and Organizational Learning’s Executive Leadership Program at George Washington University in Washington, DC.
Holding a wide variety of command and staff positions with the United States Army Reserve, Major General Visot’s most recent assignment was Chief of Staff. As Chief of Staff, he maintained responsibility for the synchronization and integration of the Army Reserve staff and led strategic and operational planning, activities, and execution.
With his incredible analytical skills and motive to change the world around him, Major General Visot holds the following awards/decorations: Army Distinguished Service Medal, Legion of Merit, Bronze Star Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster, Defense Meritorious Service Medal, Meritorious Service Medal with silver and bronze Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Commendation Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, and the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters, Army Superior Unit Award, Meritorious Unit Citation, Parachutist Badge, and Army Staff Identification Badge.
